OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 9. A 5 1/2 table Howell movement was enjoyed. Finishing first in flight A were Nancy Farmer (Norway) and Marta Clements (Woodstock), second were Rosemarie Goodwin (Lewiston) and Luke Merry (New Gloucester), third were Jim Krainin (Naples) and Milt McKeen (Bridgton), who were first in flight B. Fourth in A were Priscilla Rooth (Brunswick) and Hazel Glazier (Norway), who were second in flight B. Finishing third in flight B were Linda Leotsakos (Chelsea) and Maryann Trafton (Waterville). Fourth were Cindy and Bob Kirchherr (South Paris).

Pinpoint of Light

HARTFORD — Pinpoint of Light Spiritualist Center will not have classes either Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. “The God of Your Understanding” will be the theme during January.

First U service

PARIS — The Dec. 18 church service at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will be led by Silver Moore-Leamon. The topic of Moore-Leamon’s 10 a.m. sermon is “Shepherds or Wisemen: What’s the Difference To Us?”

Music is under the direction of Forest Perkins. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome and childcare is available.

The Christmas Eve candlelight service will take place at 6:30 p.m. with music and readings.

Christmas Eve service

WATERFORD — Waterford Congregational Church on Plummer Hill in Waterford Flat invites the community to its traditional Christmas Eve service which will begin at 5 p.m. There will be readings, carol singing and also holiday music presented by the choir under the direction of Jane Morse. The service will conclude with candles lit for the singing of “Silent Night.” A free-will offering will be taken for the benefit of the Waterford Emergency Fuel Fund.

PARIS — The Paris Public Library will provide eReader assistance on a drop-in basis on Tuesday, Dec. 27, and Tuesday, Jan. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Community members are invited to bring in an eReader and any questions.

An eReader and eBook discussion night will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, for anyone who wants to meet with other eReader users to share tips on using devices and finding eBooks. NYE buffet, dance
