Cards for soldiers
BETHESDA, Md. — Send a wounded soldier a Christmas card. When filling out Christmas cards this year, take one card, or more, and send to: A Recovering American Soldier, c/o Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, 8901 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Md., 20889-5600. This is a small way to say thank you to those who have sacrificed so much.
Cribbage results
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 1 were: first place, Anita Cusson and Sonny Beaudoin; second place, Bill Mickalide, three player table; third place, Norm Bissonnette and Ron Hynes; fourth place, Jeanne Collette and Pat Records; fifth place, Bert Chenard and Don Haley.

Santa breakfast at Y
LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will host Breakfast with Santa from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at 130 East Ave.
Menu will include pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit and home fries. Juice, milk and coffee will be served. Each child will receive a photo with Santa and a special gift. There will be several activities for children. Prices are adults $7, children 12 and under $5 and families $20.

Franco veterans
LEWISTON — The Franco-American War Veterans Post 31 and Unit 31 Auxiliary will have a short meeting and Christmas party at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.
There will be a Chinese auction for those interested. Gift amount is set at a $10 limit.
Eastern Star
WALES — Lakeside Chapter 60, Order of the Eastern Star will gather on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Grange/Masonic Building, 322 Centre Road.
The members are reminded to bring a potluck dish with them for all to share at the supper at 6 p.m.
The meeting at 7 p.m. will honor the stations of chaplain and organist. There will be a monetary collection for the special Togus project and attendees will share another session of “Jokes and Trivia.”
Members are also reminded that dues are due for 2012 on Dec. 31. Those who want to visit the chapter in March or other chapters in January must have a 2012 dues card.
Nursing mothers
AUBURN — The La Leche League offers breastfeeding information and encouragement to pregnant women, new mothers and growing families. Services offered include monthly meetings and 24-hour telephone help. All interested women are invited to attend the next meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.
Pregnancy is an ideal time to begin attending meetings in preparation for baby’s arrival and mothers find continued support throughout their breastfeeding experience. All concerns about breastfeeding are welcome for discussion in addition to the scheduled topic, “Breastfeeding, the Mother-Baby Relationship, and the Weaning Process.” The discussion will include nutrition for nursing mothers, introducing solids to baby and the weaning breastfed baby.

Society party
LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas party for members and their guests on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the MTM Center. The event will include a potluck supper and a “Yankee swap.”
For the potluck supper attendees are asked to bring a dish to share. To sign-up and to ensure an equal mix of appetizers, main dishes, desserts and soft drinks, contact Dorothy Smith at 353-8510 or email LHS.2011@yahoo.com. Coffee will be provided.
For the Yankee Swap, attendees should bring a wrapped, untagged, handmade gift. The gift can be self made or a handmade purchase, and should not exceed $5.

Christmas program
NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Bible Church will have a Christmas Program on Sunday evening, Dec. 18.
