Basso benefit
WEST PARIS — The Basso family of West Paris recently lost their home and everything in it to a fire. Donations of clothes, furniture, dry goods, toiletries, housewares and more will be collected Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, between 1 and 3 p.m. at the Legion School on Kingsbury Street.
Items will be stored there until the family finds a more permanent place for the winter. To donate at other times, call Donna at 890-6752.
Clothing is needed in boys’ sizes 16, 12, 10 and 18-24 months; women’s 4 or 6 pants/jeans and small/medium tops; and men’s 36x33ish pants and large/XL tops.
Pantry open
OTISFIELD — The Food Pantry will be open from from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon, and the second Monday evening of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 583-4780 or 627-4329.
Adoption celebration
PARIS — In honor of National Adoption Month, an adoption celebration will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
Food, games and prizes will be provided in a child-friendly atmosphere, culminating in the finalization of several adoptions by the Oxford County Probate Court. Anyone who is interested in becoming a foster/adoptive parent is welcome as well; representatives from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services will be available to answer questions. Photos will be displayed of children in Maine who are awaiting their forever families. Information on domestic and international adoptions will be available.

Community supper
WATERFORD — A community supper will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Wilkins Community House. Suppers are held on the third Thursday of each month through May. The hosts for this supper are Caren and James Long and Nancy and Fred Engdahl.
The Community House is located in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church.
Folks from the community and surrounding towns are invited to bring a favorite dish to share. Rolls, bread and beverages will be provided. For information, call 583-6677.
Chicken pie supper
WEST PARIS — The First Universalist Church of West Paris on Main Street will hold their annual chicken pie supper at 5:3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17.
The cost is $8, $3 for ages 11 and under. Tickets go on sale at 4:30 and there will be a craft sale in the Ladies’ Parlor featuring their brand-new cookbook.
