To the Editor:
Considering what to do with the sidewalk pavers that were removed from the Town Office entrance walk, how badly are they damaged? If most of them can be salvaged or restored, a perfect place for them would be on the Common. They could be placed at either side of the existing walkways, so they could be read as folks walked along. The stories they tell are fascinating.
The people who purchased the bricks believed that they would be a permanent memory of the families engraved on them. Those bricks make fascinating reading, some of it funny, some of it poignant. They are a solid history of a part of this town’s past. The donors felt passionate enough about the project that they invested a considerable sum to support it.
We owe it to them to give the pavers a place of prominence on the Common.
