WILTON — Singer-songwriter Ed DesJardins, who is also a multi-instrumentalist and producer, will perform on Friday, Sept. 23, at Baker’s Market Cafe.
Of his music, DesJardins said in a prepared statement, “I’m drawn by writers like Emmy Lou Harris, Ray Lamontagne and Daniel Lanois, so it’s more mellow and, hopefully, meaningful stuff that has some weight to it.”
“The lyrics certainly matter,” he said. “I play an acoustic guitar, but get an atmospheric sort of vibe going with it. Not straight folk by any means.”
DesJardins released his first solo CD, “Innerspace,” in June 2010.
The last of six children born into a musical family, Desjardins cites his earliest memory as sitting in his crib at age 2 hearing the low bass sounds of his brothers’ band resonating from the attic above.
The Sept. 23 concert is part of Sing to ME in Wilton, ME, a series of occasional concerts highlighting local performers. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds going to the performer.
Light supper items and desserts will be available before the 7 p.m. concert. Seating is limited. Call 645-7107. The cafe is at 285 Main St.
