LEWISTON — A Central Maine Medical Center nurse is the recipient of the DAISY Award.

Rebecca Fairbanks works at the cardiopulmonary telemetry inpatient department. She also trains nurses and is a preceptor, an experienced practitioner who provides supervision during clinical practice and facilitates the application of theory to practice for students and staff learners.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate, skillful care nurses give daily. Honorees personify Central Maine Healthcare’s remarkable patient experience, according to a news release from CMH.

Honorees are nominated by patients. Patient Michael Colby wrote, “Rebecca certainly exemplifies the honor of a DAISY-awarded nurse. Her demeanor and bedside manner are second to none. She treats her patients calmly and caringly and is very candid and informative about our care. I spent weeks under her care and always felt heard and understood.”
