Kindergartner Owen Aseltine, 6, center, was met by his parents, Jeff and Rachel Aseltine, after his first day at W.G. Mallett Elementary School in Farmington on Tuesday. He said his favorite part of the day was recess when kids could run around the bus loop “track” and play games, since the playground is not completed. Principal Tracy Williams said, “Everything went really well for the first day in a new building. We had a lot of people dropping off and picking up their children, but we were able to keep things moving and parents were patient and attentive to our new parking restrictions.” Tours of the building will be available at an ice cream social and open house, hosted by the PTA for students and parents, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday; Sept. 7.
