TURNER – Laurier “Larry” Armand Lamie, 73, of Turner, passed away peacefully at home with loving family by his side. Laurier was born on March 24, 1949, a son to Armand and Rose (Morin) Lamie. Larry attended Holy Cross, St. Doms and Lewiston High School. He graduated from University of Rhode Island in 1971 with a degree in Pharmacy.
In June of 1972, Larry went on a blind date with Theresa “Terry” Pelletier. It was love at first sight, the pair were always seen together and were never found apart. A few short months later, they were married on Oct. 7. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past October.
Larry was a proud pharmacist for almost 50 years. He started his career at Clarks Pharmacy and retired at Hannaford in Auburn. Larry loved people, customer service being his favorite part of the job. He would go above and beyond for his customers, always giving them information regarding medication or just to lend a listening ear. He was head of the Central Maine Pharmacy Association until they merged with the Maine Pharmacy Association where he became a board member, and soon after, the president for two years. Larry received many awards, the Bowl of Hygeia Award being his most memorable. This is the highest award a pharmacist can receive.
Larry and Terry had many adventures together, always willing to do or try anything. They enjoyed many trips with friends and family – sharing homes with siblings down south on both sides of the family was always fun. They especially loved sharing adventures with their daughter and grandsons. The family went to the Bahamas twice, and Quebec. They always loved introducing their family to new places. Larry and Terry always said, “we are not giving them trips, we are giving them memories”.
They had a beautiful daughter Jessie whom they are very proud of. She is an independent woman and thoughtful RN. Jessie gave Larry and Terry two wonderful grandsons. Many hours were spent in ice arenas all over New England. They could always be found ringing their cow bells and cheering them on. When the boys first started hockey, Larry loved to assist with coaching.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, and younger sister Lorraine Lamie Roberge whom he loved very much.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, travel partner, and best friend Terry; his daughter Jessica Rose Lamie; his brother Normand and his wife Sue, his sister Denise and husband Bill. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Roger Roberge, brother-in-law Robert Pelletier and wife Cheryl, and a sister-in-law Velma Lussier and partner Terry. He is also survived by his two grandsons Michael Nazaroff and his fiance Mariah Damon and Alex Nazaroff and wife Audrey. Larry also leaves behind his great grandson Hudson whom he was able to enjoy 10 lovely months with. Lastly, Larry leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews.
