Amy Thibault examines a chanterelle mushroom she found Friday on a walk through the Sherwood Forest Conservation Area between South Main and Broad streets in New Auburn. Thibault has been mushroom hunting for as long as she can remember. She grew up in Washington State and kept her grandfather company when he searched for morels and other mushrooms in the Northwest. “My grandpa cut holes in a backpack for my legs and dropped me through,” Thibault said.
