Fernande L. Leblond

LEWISTON – Fernande L. Leblond 97 has passed peacefully onto a well-deserved eternal rest on August 1, 2023. She was born on April 4, 1926 in New Auburn to Sylvio and Olive Levesque. She was educated in Lewiston schools and graduated with honors. 

In 1955, she met her husband Henry Leblond at a dance. They married in June of 1956 and spent 56 years together before he passed away in 2012. For many years she was employed in the shoe industry as well as Raytheon Transistor Company and Maine Microfilm before retiring in 1991. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with friends as well as crocheting and crafting.

In her later years she was a voracious reader, often times reading several paperback novels a week. She had a sweet tooth that wouldn’t quit and loved her vanilla ice cream right to the end. 

The youngest of six siblings, she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. She spoke of them often with loving memories. Surviving her are three daughters, Anita Fournier and her husband Thomas of Portland, Diane Rohman and her husband J. Patrick of Auburn and Julie Anne Leblond of Westbrook. One granddaughter Sara Rohman and her husband Kyle Lachance of Portland. Of special mention, a niece, Irene Dearborn and her husband George of Lusby, Maryland. Their children, Beth Vaudreuil and Becca Sotero, affectionately called her memere. Also recognized are Flora Cyr, Florence Berube and Bert Ringuette who lived with the family through the Maine Forster Children’s program. She cared deeply for her many nieces and nephews and felt fortunate to have their friendships and love over the many years.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation that will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at The Fortin Group Funeral Home located at 217 Turner Street Auburn, followed by an funeral service at 1 p.m.

The family cordially invites friends and loved ones to a celebration of life in remembrance of Fernande, where cherished memories will be shared and her life honored.

Burial to be private.
