AUBURN — Adam Platz, an Auburn native and the chief financial officer of JAR Cannabis Co., has announced his intention to run in November for an at-large seat on the Auburn City Council.
According to a campaign announcement, Platz is a 2004 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn and running due to a “deep sense of gratitude toward the city and an urge to give back.”
“I have always believed in the resiliency and depth of this community,” he said. “Auburn is composed of a diverse group of people whose hard work, many skills, and dedication gives this community its strength and prosperity. This is the community that helped raise me, that taught me loyalty, discipline and compassion. That is why I want to give back to the community through public service on the City Council.”
Platz said he would bring “energy, confidence in the future and a commitment to representing people of all ages” to the City Council.
He said good communication is “essential to any governmental body, especially at the local level.”
“The citizens of Auburn deserve a transparent, open and honest discussion of the important issues facing the city, with an opportunity to be heard throughout the process,” he said.
As a councilor, he said he would be committed to “transparency, responsiveness and accessibility.”
Platz holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and astronomy from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
JAR Cannabis Co. is headquartered in Lewiston-Auburn.
“I look forward to meeting and listening to the voters of Auburn during my campaign and earning their trust and support,” said Platz, who is seeking one of two at-large seats on the council.
