“We do have some local providers coming in to help us see patients, but these are people moving into our community. I think that speaks a lot to some of the changes that our coming,” Jacques said.

Over her two months in her new role, Jacques said she’s been a part of the strategic growth plan.

“We’ve engaged with people that can support us with data showing us different clinics and services that we need. And so, helping with the recruitment of providers to Swift River, just making sure that we’re taking advantage of all the things that we can and really attracting people to this community,” she said.

Part of their strategic plan is to focus on the gastroenterology program and to add more doctors to perform more procedures for them locally.

Further, the Elsemore Dixfield Family Medicine at 146 Weld St. in Dixfield, will be reopening soon after system issues with the building are fixed.

“I see my job as being to advocate for the services and the programs that we need,” Jacques said. Living in this community all my life has certainly helped to understand the population and things we might be missing or things that we need to keep doing and doing well.”

Jacques has been with Central Maine Healthcare, parent company of the two hospitals, for 17 years. Before being named interim president in May, she worked as the vice president of Nursing and Patient Care Services for Rumford Hospital.

She holds degrees from the Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions and the University of Maine at Fort Kent, as well as a master’s degree in nursing education from Western Governor’s University.
