DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m having an issue with little ants in my home. They show up randomly in every room but started in the kitchen near the sliding door to the deck. The brick walkway leading to the house has many ant hills. I’ve also noticed more earwigs than usual. This all seemed to start up when I tore out some shrubbery that was growing too close to the front of my house.

I know I need an exterminator and would like to hear from other Sun Spots readers about companies rather than just randomly choose one. — Elise, Minot

ANSWER: Yes, taking out those shrubs could very well have led to this new issue.

I don’t know about you, but earwigs are something I do not want to deal with. They freak me out!

I can personally vouch for Terminix (https://www.terminix.com/, 1-877-837-6464). I am a satisfied customer. The technicians who have come to my home are wonderful and they get the job done.
