OXFORD — Oxford Hills Christian Academy’s Merely Players theatre troupe will present the 1930s screwball comedy “My Man Godfrey”, adapted for stage by Eric K. Hatch.
As the Great Depression rages, a down-on-his-luck Godfrey gets a job as a butler for the wealthy – but nutty- Bullock family. There he makes friends, and enemies, as he reminds the family that there is dignity in working, no matter the job. Based on the original novel written in the ’30s, this play continues to ring true today.
This is theatre for the whole family to enjoy. Shows are at Hosanna Church, 109 Schoolhouse Road in Oxford. Show times are May 19 at 7 p.m.; May 20 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets at the door. $10/adults; $5/students.
