LEWISTON — Oxford Hills winning pitcher Kolby Brown was also a force at the plate in the Vikings’ 7-4 victory over Lewiston in a Class A North baseball game on Thursday afternoon.

Brown went the distance on the mound, striking out three batters and giving up one hit for the Vikings (4-0). He helped his own cause with a pair of hits. Brady Truman opened the scoring with a run-scoring single in the top of the first.

Dylan Whitlow had Lewiston’s (0-6) only hit for the day. The Blue Devils did much of their damage by making the most of Brown’s four walks and the Vikings’ seven errors.

POLAND 15, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: The Knights (3-3) produced 13 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to shelve the Seagulls in Poland.

Poland hammered out 11 hits. Winning pitcher Sam Paladino had two hits and Aiden MacFawn was the workhorse on offense, leading the Knights with three hits and four RBIs.

Losing pitcher Riley Provencher had two hits for OOB (1-4).

FREEPORT 5, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3: Aidan Heath hit a two-run single as the Falcons (4-3) scored four runs in the first inning en route to a win over the Patriots (1-5) in Gray.

Zane Aguiar pitched six innings for Freeport, allowing three hits and striking out nine. Liam Emmons earned the save. Will Maneikis got two hits of Freeport’s six hits.

Max Kenney and Jake Maschino each had two hits for GNG. Losing pitcher Braeden Chute struck out seven.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL
FREEPORT 8, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4: Vanessa St. Pierre and Sadie Todd each recorded a two-run double to help the Falcons (2-5) top the Patriots (1-5) in Gray.

Norah Albertini and Celia Cobb both hit two singles for Freeport. Devon Russell pitched five innings to earn the win.

Maisie Lerette and Heather Nevells each had two hits for Gray-New Gloucester, and Cadence Norris belted a double.

POLAND 14, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 0: Gretchyn Paradis threw a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts while also hitting a home run as the Knights (6-1) downed the Seagulls (0-3) in five innings in Old Orchard Beach.

Olivia Rioux tripled and drove in two runs as part of her three-hit day, and Khloe O’Leary doubled in her three-hit effort. Nicole Rioux also doubled, singled and drove in a run.

Hannah Webber and Summer St. Louis split time in the Old Orchard Beach circle, with each pitcher recording two strikeouts.

MEN’S TENNIS
BATES PLAYERS HONORED: The New England Small College Athletic Conference honored Bates tennis players Cam Davis-Kania and Alexander Gujarathi by naming the pair to the Second Team All-NESCAC in doubles on Thursday.

Davis-Kania, a senior captain, and Gujarathi, a junior, were a strong doubles pair, going 12-13 and 8-8 in dual matches.

The duo won six out of eight contests at one point during the spring. Their victories included wins over No. 31 MIT, No. 30 Skidmore, No. 18 Wesleyan and No. 12 Bowdoin.

The pair topped Bowdoin’s Tristan Bradley and Reid Staples with an 8-7 (7-4) win — which was especially impressive since Bradley copped the NESCAC Player of the Year award.
