AUBURN — During the Aug. 10 evening performance of the Auburn Community Concert Band, band members awarded a $500 college scholarship to Hebron Academy graduate Robert MacLellan of Hebron. The scholarship was presented to help commemorate the concert band’s 30th anniversary season.

In addition to four years of stellar academic performance while attending Hebron Academy, MacLellan’s activities included the school’s orchestra, jazz band, a cappella group and numerous class plays. He also played on the school’s football and lacrosse teams. During commencement ceremonies, MacLellan received the Award for Academic Excellence in Music, and the Ernest Sherman Award, given to a class member who best exhibits dedication to Hebron Academy and personal concern for fellow students and the community.

MacLellan will attend The College of Wooster in the fall, located in Wooster, Ohio, majoring in music education.

The Auburn Community Concert Band’s final performance of the annual summer concert series will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Festival Plaza. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved inside to the ballroom of the Hilton Garden Inn in Great Falls Plaza.
