DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re inviting everyone to join the Lewiston Farmers’ Market On the Green at 75 Lincoln St. for our Annual Spaghetti Squash Dinner fundraiser on Sunday, May 7, from 4 to 6 pm.

The evening’s outdoor buffet-style meal will feature farm-fresh seasonal and local foods from market vendors and local farms. Gluten, dairy-free, and vegan options will be available.

Other highlights of the night include live music, and a chance to shop the bounty of spring from market vendors. Standing tables and some seating will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or lawn chairs. In the case of inclement weather the event will move inside to the Nutrition Center at 208 Bates St.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping you might be able to find the resource I need and haven’t been able to find myself. I have three semi-working appliances that still have a bit of life left in them, probably a lot if someone could repair them.

I have a dryer with a broken door latch only (that I know of). It works well otherwise. I also have two washers, the match to the dryer (Kenmore HE4, both a denim blue) that stopped working due to a computer error of some sort. When I Googled the issue, it seemed that it could be fixed.

I also have a Roper washer that was working perfectly until a couple weeks ago when it just stopped filling in the middle of the cycle, all the lights went out, and it made a low noise. I hold the start/pause button until everything shuts down. Then the wash light shows but the machine won’t start. When I press it again, it starts and cycles correctly. It also starts draining for no reason at that same point, but over half the time it works fine.

I’m planning to move soon and would like to sell these three units to a used appliance store or to someone who could fix and use them, perhaps $100 for all three. They are in too good of a condition to be scrapped.

Do you or any readers know someone who purchases used appliances, or is there anyone who would like to buy and fix these then be able to use them? — Terri, no town

ANSWER: Sun Spots usually doesn’t publish items for sale but I’m making an exception because I’m sure someone could fix these appliances and use them. It’s a good deal for someone.

One of my thoughts is that a handy person or appliance tech will read this, fix the machines, then maybe donate them to a nonprofit so I’m putting this out into Sun Spots Land in the hopes that someone will tackle this task. Stay tuned.
