ANSWER: I wanted to remind Sun Spots readers that this event is tomorrow. Let’s honor our veterans and show appreciation for their service.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m having difficulty locating a small dual-motor lift chair for short, elderly people.

Due to bone issues, ideally the seat needs to be 17 inches deep and 17 inches from the floor to the top of the seat. I may be able to get away with one 18 inches in depth and height and use a back pillow, but if it has lumbar heat, using a pillow would buffer the heat.

I have found some chairs, but they have only a single motor, which means the back reclines when the feet are raised. I have tried just about every medical and furniture store in the Lewiston and Portland areas and have also looked online.

I am willing to special order but would prefer seeing and trying before buying. If a reader has one in good condition they may contact me at 212-5163 and leave a message — Larry, Lewiston

ANSWER: I’m wondering if your medical provider, health insurance company, or a social worker could help you find what you need. It seems that any of these would have access to this information and at least know where to look.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My newspaper deliverer takes back the plastic sleeves and reuses them on subsequent newspaper deliveries, a great way to recycle.  I use some sleeves to put the clumps from the kitty litter box in the trash. — Anita, Lewiston

ANSWER: This tip is a follow-up to the Feb. 10 Sun Spots about what to do with all those plastic bags the newspaper is delivered in. It seems these are in demand for picking up after our pets — both dogs and cats!
