DEAR SUN SPOTS: We want to remind everyone that the folks at Readfield United Methodist Church on Route 17 in Kents Hill are holding a Cabin Fever Game Day on Saturday from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. We will have an assortment of traditional games available and invite people to bring their own special game if they wish.

This will be a time to enjoy an afternoon out and maybe make a new friend. Concessions will be available. If the weather is bad the event will be held Sunday at the same time. — Karen, Kents Hill

ANSWER: I have participated in this type of event in my community and it is fun. Some of the games were new to me. I was terrible at some and good at others, but I laughed a lot and that’s what’s important!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Someone told me that I can get a free dress for prom from a nonprofit but she didn’t have any other information. My friend told me she saw it in the Sun Journal. Can you help me find out more about this? — Talia, Lisbon Falls

ANSWER: I sure can! You can choose a free prom dress at The Woman’s Literary Union Prom Gown Giveaway on Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Foss Mansion at 19 Elm St. in Auburn. To schedule your fitting time slot, go to https://tinyurl.com/2p8ha5t5 .For more information, you can call Kathy at 402-7591.

I believe The Woman’s Literary Union is still accepting prom dresses. If you have one to donate, the drop-off locations are Fontaine Realty, 336 Center St. in Auburn on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Deanna Lynn State Farm at 155 Lisbon St. in Lewiston; and the Riverfront Franco Center. Call Denise at 261-5240.

I encourage young women to look into this event. Going to prom is a big deal and you can go and enjoy yourselves without having to spend a fortune.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to remind everyone about the organization Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and the good work they do. I wish all communities had this support.

The nonprofit organization is supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, material and money. We are dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age, and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves.

Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

The work is conducted during one weekend a year. This year Rebuilding Day is May 13.

We are accepting house applications until March 31 by email at rebuildingtogetherla@gmail.com or downloading one from our website at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org.

Those interested in volunteering may contact the organization through the email address above or call 344-3232. — No name, no town

ANSWER: That deadline is fast-approaching so if you feel you would qualify for this assistance, get that application filled out. If you would like to volunteer, that would be wonderful too!
