SABATTUS — The Sabattus Knights of Columbus #13181 will host a fishing derby from midnight to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Sandy Beach. Proceeds of the derby will benefit the council’s high school scholarship fund. Cost to participate is $10 for adults; $5 for children 15 and under. Tickets will be available for sale at the beach until noon on derby day, and fishing will continue until 4 p.m.
Sandy Beach is located just off Route 126, on Sabattus Lake. There is plenty of parking available.
Cash prizes between $25 and $100 will be awarded for largest bass, largest pike, largest white perch and largest yellow perch. One person can win multiple prizes and participants do not need to be present at the 4 p.m. judging to win. A new fishing pole will be awarded for the largest fish caught by a child.
Tickets are now available at Steven’s Hardware and at Main Street Market in Sabattus, Stone’s Bait & Tackle in Lewiston and Oak Hill Cash Market in Wales. For more information, call 375-4202.
