Where are all the workers?

“Help wanted” signs are everywhere, as well as ads in newspapers and on TV. Short-staffing is common, so much so that some businesses have to close early or close altogether.

Well, one cause may be low birth rates. The Sun Journal reported recently that Rumford Community Hospital is ending its maternity services March 31 due to lack of business. So, fewer babies, fewer teachers, fewer farmers, fewer waitresses, etc.

And, how about drug-related deaths? Overdoses in Maine in 2022 eliminated 716 individuals, including future police, firefighters, husbands and sisters.

Then, there’s abortions.

According to the last report from the Centers for Disease Control, there were 615,000 abortions in a recent year in the United States. Those unborn humans were the doctors, scientists, technicians, inventors of the future.

Help wanted.
