TURNER — The reggae band Catchavibe will perform at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Turner Center community gazebo, followed by the Czar Project with its progressive metal jazz.

Making up the Czar Project are Craig Raymond of Turner and Peter Hermon of Mount Vernon.

Born in Jamaica, Raymond lived in Florida until after Hurricane Andrew, when he decided to move to Maine.

He plays guitar, bass, keyboard and drums in a variety of styles: reggae, calypso, jazz, blues, rock, funk, metal, R&B, a bit of classical, and smooth jazz. His favorite styles are progressive metal and fusion.

Raymong is studying jazz at the University of Maine at Augusta. Herman, a jazz guitarist who has performed around the state, connected with Raymond at the university.

Both musicians are in other bands that play reggae, jazz, fusion and pop.

If it should rain, the free performance will be moved to the church across the street.
