Family Day

AUBURN — Turner Street Community Church, 263 Turner St., is holding its 3rd annual Family Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 30, in the parking lot which is on the corner of Vernon and Whitney streets.

Tai Chi

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free Tai Chi series for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. The series will take place each Monday in August from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. in the Multipurpose room of CMMC’s Wellness Center.

Presenter Jason Whitney will teach the system of ancient Chinese movements that gently stimulate the body and quiet the mind. Some benefits include better balance, flexibility, stability and ease of pain associated with arthritis and other conditions. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free Lunch and Learn for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. ‘Rx for You, the Caregiver,’ will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room D.

Being a caregiver can feel like a full time job. Presenter Emily Ecker will teach simple quick tools for self care.

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering an opportunity for community members to showcase their talents. ‘Cancer Variety Show: Take Two’ will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, through Friday, Aug. 5, at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room I.

Presented by Tookie Bright, children’s program coordinator, the show is for any youth or community member who would like to participate, raise awareness about cancer and share their talents. The group will meet every day for a week with the final performance being held Friday, Aug. 5. Participants will work together, individually or in teams to mold the final performance into their very own show. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and participate.

Summer services

MINOT — The Minot Center Congregational Church, at the corner of Center Minot Hill and Jackson Hill roads, will hold its annual summer services in August beginning Aug. 7.

Services are at 9 a.m. with Pastor Frances Lodge presiding. All denominations are welcome.

Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on July 25 were as follows.

Box car movie

AUBURN — Auburn Parks and Recreation will present Box Car Drive-In Movie Night on Friday, Aug. 5, at Pettengill Park’s upper softball field. Free for all ages. Rain date, Saturday, Aug. 6.

Kids are invited to create a homemade cardboard box car and enjoy the movie in style. Prizes will be given out for the best cars on the lot. Judging is based on creativity, use of materials and overall appearance.

The movie “UP!” will air immediately following car judging at 8:15 p.m.

Lawn chairs and blankets should be brought, as real vehicles will not be allowed on the field.
