So, we hear Portland is getting its own Monopoly board.

We get it, Portland is great. They’ve got the lighthouse, Monument Square, the State Theatre, all that stuff. But when are we going to get a Monopoly board of all the iconic spots around the Twin Cities? Obviously no Hasbro executive has ever visited the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul or stopped by Simones’ for a chili cheese dog. What about Mt. Apatite Park or The Colisee or the Rollodrome? We’ve basically got Patrick Dempsey on speed dial! (OK, we don’t but he does come back to visit for the annual Dempsey Challenge).

Bates College is included in the Maine edition of Monopoly. The city of Portland has been chosen for an officially licensed community-themed version of the classic board game Monopoly that is set to be released in the fall. Nina Mahaleris/Sun Journal
