The Maryland Black Bears used a third-period comeback to defeat the Maine Nordiques 4-3 in an NAHL East Division contest at the Piney Orchard Ice Arena in Odenton, Maryland, Saturday night.
The Nordiques took a 3-2 lead early in the third period when Henrik Hallberg notched his 13th goal of the season. Defenseman Nicholas Bernardo and forward Brendan Gibbons notched the assists.
Hunter Ramos scored midway through the third period for the Black Bears, tying the game 3-3.
Christian Catalano scored with about four minutes remaining in the game for the game-winning goal.
Laurent Trepanier was the only goal-scorer in the first period to give the Nordiques a 1-0 lead.
Catalano scored his first goal of the game three minutes into the second period to get Maryland on the board. Kal Essenmacher then gave Maryland its first lead later in the period on the power play.
The Black Bears were 1 for 5 on the man-advantage and the Nordiques were 0 for 4.
Jonny Meiers tied the game 2-2 at the end of the second period.
William Hakansson stopped 22 shots in the win and Kael DePape stopped 34 shots in the loss.
