DEAR SUN SPOTS: You are such a help! Now I am asking if anyone can give me advice about selling our beautiful, collectible dollhouse that was given to our church after its owner passed away.

The dollhouse is on display in a lovely setting at the church in Bethel. The woman who designed and furnished the dollhouse was a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, and she displayed this house in juried shows. It truly is a gem. If anyone is interested and would like to see it, please  contact me at 824-2062. — Lida, Bethel

ANSWER: This is a follow-up to the Nov. 8 Sun Spots. For clarity, I’m repeating other details of the first letter: “West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel has been given a beautiful dollhouse, all handmade with complete furnishings. The woman who made it has passed away and her husband (who also worked on it) wants it to be sold and have the proceeds go to the church.”

In my November answer, I suggested that the church hold a fundraising raffle or silent auction after this 1975 collectible, fine quality miniature dollhouse was appraised for its value. Surely, someone in Sun Spots Land has some experience with this kind of thing.

In the meantime, have you asked NAME if they can advise/assist you in some way? Another idea is to contact Jim Talbot at Charles M. Talbot Associates, 55 Poplar Hill Roa in Turner (https://www.ctaauctions.com/). The number is 225-3797 or you can email him at cta@ctaauctions.comPlease keep us posted.

SUN SPOTS: I, too, would like some input from people who have signed up for solar plans. Were there any problems, were there savings, etc.? — Marily, Leeds

ANSWER: This is a follow-up to the Dec. 22 Sun Spots: “I’d like to hear from people who have signed up for solar farms — how’s that affecting your electric bill, and would you recommend it to others? Renewable energy such as solar sounds great, but I’m hesitant about signing up while it’s still so new.”

For some guidance, I’ve included a link to the state’s website on the subject (https://www.maine.gov/energy/initiatives/renewable-energy/solar-distributed-generation) as well as to Efficiency Maine’s website (https://www.efficiencymaine.com/renewable-energy/solar-electric/). There are also several contractors who offer consultations. There’s so much to learn, so yes, you are wise to ask for advice from Sun Spotters who have gone through the process.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to add to the compliments for the U.S. Postal Service. Two Christmas cards that were sent to me were addressed incorrectly to North Street instead of Ninth Street. I don’t know if there is a North Street in Auburn, but my thanks go to USPS for getting this mail to me and for the great job they all do. — Margaret, Auburn

ANSWER: During this crazy time of “short-staffing” that affects everyone and everything, we often tend to focus on “lack” rather than being thankful for those workers who are showing up and doing their best despite having more asked of them. Life is always better when there is an attitude of gratitude. As Sun Spotters, you can shine and share some light. I’m counting on you.
