100 years ago, 1911

With each succeeding day, the moving picture policy at Music Hall increases in popularity. The idea of witnessing two hours of high class photoplays in a cool, cozy and comfortable theatre, and when one considers the price is only five cents, with a few reserve seats at ten, it is not to be wondered at that this popular theatre is filled to its utmost at every performance. The moving picture not only amuses, but instructs.

50 years ago, 1961

“Diablo” visited Auburn again yesterday.

The 11-year-old horse owned by Carol Rivard of Holland St., Lewiston, galloped from his barn during the afternoon, eluded a police officer and skipped over the North Bridge as wide-eyed motorists and pedestrians got out of his way.

“Diablo” traveled to Sabattus and Main streets and then down Main where he crossed over the bridge. He was grabbed on Court Street near Highland Avenue, by an unidentified citizen. Police said Carol rode the horse back home.

25 years ago, 1986

The Pine Tree Warriors, Maine’s Marching Ambassadors Drum and Bugle Corps and Color Guard, participated last weekend at the Broiler Festival parade in Belfast on Saturday and competed in a field contest in Somerville, Mass., on Sunday where they took a first place trophy. This weekend they will be parading at the Deering Oaks Festival in Portland on Saturday morning. In the afternoon the unit will be at the Casco Day parade. On Sunday, the Corps will travel to Leominster, Mass., for another field contest.
