MECHANIC FALLS — Regional School Unit 16 Adult Education has announced upcoming learning opportunities.
Digital Camera Basics: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 27. Students will learn the basics of their digital cameras, including common settings and how to best take everyday snapshots. Tips for getting your photos processed will also be covered. Tuition: $10.
Mah Jongg — American Style!: 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays, April 27, through May 11. Not to be confused with the computer solitaire version, American-style Mah Jongg is making a comeback. Participants will learn to play and join the growing trend. Tuition: $15.
ATV Safety: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 7. Participants will learn how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws and responsibilities, using a map and compass, environmental/landowner ethics and personal safety will also be covered. The class is designed for those ages 10 and older; youth younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tuition: $7.
Boating Safety: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 21. Students will learn proper boating safety and operation, including handling, equipment and trailing. Laws, environmental ethics, emergencies and cold-water survival will also be covered. Completion meets requirements for operation of personal watercraft by 16- and 17-year-olds. Tuition: $7.
CPR/AED: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, May 18. This AHA instructor-led course teaches adult CPR and AED use, and also meets recertification requirements. Upon successful completion of the course and skills test, students will receive a Heartsaver CPR AED card, valid for two years. Physical ability to perform chest compression is required. Tuition: $75
