An aerial view Thursday morning shows where crews from Gendron & Gendron have cleared an area, foreground, by Mount Auburn Avenue in Auburn to prepare for a city reconstruction project on the road next spring. The city awarded the Auburn company the bid to reconstruct a large portion of Mount Auburn Avenue, and city staff believe Gendron plans to use its own property for a “laydown” area for the work. The property, which sits between Lake Auburn and Gracelawn Road/Mount Auburn Avenue, has been at the center of the Lake Auburn water quality debate. A rezoning petition from Gendron & Gendron owner John Gendron, which will likely be heard by the Planning Board in December, could lead to a housing development on a portion of the land.
