Animal lovers can have their animal companions blessed outdoors in Lewiston at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.
The blessing is scheduled to occur during the Saint Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St.
As prayers are offered, the pets will be gently sprinkled with holy water; attendees should be sure pets are properly secured.
Saint Francis of Assisi was known for his love of all of God’s creatures. The blessing recognizes the important place that pets hold in people’s hearts, according to a news release from Tyler Nadeau, director of Evangelization and Catechesis with the Prince of Peace Parish.
