American Legion Post 24 of Rumford held a Dignified Flag Disposal Ceremony Saturday, led (at left) by Commander Ed Perry and Chaplain Lou Marin, assisted by Scout Troop 580. There were 1,572 American flags disposed of on this day, to go with another 3,000 flags done previously. The ceremony is usually held near Flag Day. Post 24 accepts all nonserviceable flags and can be dropped off at the Legion’s flagbox at 184 Congress St. Bruce Farrin/Rumford Falls Times
