I’ve been reading in the Sun Journal how residents of both Lewiston and Auburn testified at Auburn City Council and other board meetings, telling Mayor Jason Levesque and his minions to quash such a ridiculous idea of rezoning the land adjacent to Lake Auburn and potentially contaminating the drinking water for the Twin Cities.
But the mayor and his minions kept pressing on.
The residents of both communities have been speaking loud and clear against the rezoning changes around the lake. Signs all over both cities read “Protect Lake Auburn.” The signs are telling Mayor Levesque what the citizens who voted for him want. He’s not listening to them, and they are mad.
He’s told our mayor to stay on his side of the river. Well, it’s our water, too, so we have a “dog” in this fight and, hopefully, a judge will order him to listen to the people.
Why is Mayor Levesque pressing so hard to potentially contaminate the drinking water for two cities? What kind of representative government is that?
Seeing what is happening causes me and a significant number of other taxpayers to wonder what is really happening. If development is allowed there, someone is going to make a lot of money on what is otherwise worthless land. Is this the real motivation?
Auburn is a large city, area-wise. Let developers develop there and make their money without hurting the people of Lewiston-Auburn. I applaud the city of Lewiston for filing its lawsuit.
