LISBON — The Town Council voted 5-1 Tuesday evening to approve a moratorium on new marijuana businesses such as medical and adult use dispensaries until further notice.
Councilors also authorized purchasing new Sig Sauer P320X handguns for the Police Department and a Jaws of Life extrication tool for the Fire Department.
At the top of the meeting, Kevin Kimball, organizer of the Maine Blues Festival on Father’s Day weekend, was honored with a framed collage of this year’s flyer, along with photos taken at the event. Members of the public and the council extolled the festival as a success. Twenty bands took part in the festival. A total of 2,200 tickets were sold and numerous businesses in the area reported positive results from the crowd, according to a presentation.
The council approved a total of $2.58 million in payments: $859,182.71 for municipal accounts; $252,023.62 for municipal payroll; $691,011.78 for school accounts; and $779,281.19 for school payroll.
