WALES — The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday approved increasing permit fees for buildings and solar panels.
The decision followed a public hearing where there were no comments.
Permit fees for buildings were increased from 20 to 25 cents per square foot. Permit fees for solar panels, both commercial and residential were set at 25 cents per square foot.
The board also reviewed reports for the Fire, Emergency Services and Public Works departments.
The Fire Department reported on needed maintenance and testing for various equipment such as fire hoses and radios. The maintenance covers cleaning and undercoating the trucks.
Emergency Services reported they completed 15 runs in June: one fire, one motor vehicle crash and the rest medical. The department is searching for a new vehicle for rescue.
The board also authorized the purchase of a new public works truck, a 2018 Ford-550 for sale in Gorham, New Hampshire, for $74,674. It would replace the old one. The new truck will need lights, a plow and toolboxes for storage.
The Public Works Department completed the purchase of the truck Wednesday morning, according to town Treasurer Sharon Siegel.
