MONMOUTH — There will be a spring farmers pull at the Monmouth Fairground, Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, starting at 9 a.m. both days, rain or shine. Weigh-ins begin at 6:30 a.m.
The snack shack will be open both days. A supper and dance Saturday night will cost $5 per person. Proceeds go toward new scales and clock for the pulling ring.
The event is free to the public and is sponsored by the Monmouth Fair Association; Draft Horse, Mule & Pony Club and the Farmers’ Steer & Oxen Club.
Organizers are Matt Lord for horses and Kevin Jones for steer and oxen.
Events will include a single horse log pull; steers – stone boat; oxen, steer and horse log elimination; short pull horse – logs; steer and oxen log pull; oxen pull distance – stone boat and horse pull distance – stone boat.
