FARMINGTON — The Homestead of Farmington will host “Italiaoutdoors Night” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, to benefit the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers and their current camp scholarship program.

The event, sponsored by Italiaoutdoors, will include a wine tasting and a wide variety of food, plus a silent auction. The cost of the event per person is $50. Reservations are available by calling Laurie Danforth at The Homestead Kitchen, Bar and Bakery at 778-6162.

Plans for “Italiaoutdoors Night” will include four wines provided by Wicked Wines of Bangor. The food flights to pair with the wine will feature a multi-course antipasti buffet to introduce the authentic regional dishes Chef Kathy Bechtel researches and cooks during her visits to Northern Italy. There will be something for everyone, from fine cheeses and salamis to fresh seafood, and a wide variety of delicious antipasti, showcasing seasonal and local products.

“We are very excited about this event. The Homestead and Italiaoutdoors have provided us with a great opportunity to raise funds for our camp scholarship program and help send underprivledged children to camp this summer,” said Steve Mayberry, director of development at the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers.

Italiaoutdoors, owned by Vernon McClure and Kathy Bechtel, specializes in customized active lifestyle vacations to Italy.

Throughout the night, guests will also have an opportunity to learn more about outdoor activities and the packages Italiaoutdoors provides, while a slideshow of the Italian countryside plays in the background. Doug Walrath will provide easy listening keyboard music with vocals by Sherry Walrath.
