SOUTH PARIS — The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine plans to host an in-person National Cancer Survivors Day event from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at McLaughlin Garden and Homestead, 97 Main St.

“Earlier this spring, McLaughlin Gardens generously offered their barn and gardens as a place where survivors, along with their caregivers and families, could safely mingle and celebrate National Cancer Survivor’s Day,” said Mallory Brooke Cash, the center’s board vice president and development chair, according to a news release from the Norway-based center. “We have missed rejoicing in survivorship face to face and hope to return to a full day of celebration in 2023.”

Guests are invited to sign in at the barn for light refreshments and walk through the gardens at their leisure.

The center aims to ensure that no one faces cancer alone. Anyone living with a history of cancer — from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life — is a cancer survivor according to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation. In the United States alone, there are more than 15.5 million people living with a history of cancer.
