Linda Marie Deraspe

RUMFORD – Linda Marie Deraspe, 65, of Prospect Avenue, passed away April 17, 2022 Easter Sunday in the evening with family and close friends at her side. She was born in Rumford on Oct. 27, 1956, one of four children born to Eugene and Yvonne (Richard) Deraspe.

Linda grew up in Mexico, was educated in local schools, graduated from Mexico High School and remained a lifelong resident of Rumford-Mexico community. She worked for many years in the Rumford mill until her retirement. Several years ago, during a time of striking mill workers, Linda started her own retail business in Old Orchard Beach, known as “LaBamba.”

Linda thoroughly enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time at the family camp at Garland Pond. She was also a “jack of all trades” as she was so mechanically-inclined and could fix, adjust or “rig” almost anything. She was a talented artist as well with an extremely creative side to her. For many years, she would make Halloween costumes and actually won numerous contests for best and most creative.

She was a member of St. Athanasius-St. John’s Church in the Parish of the Holy Savior.

Linda was loving, devoted and hardworking daughter and sister who never gave up as she battled personal problems and suffered through her health issues.

She leaves behind her brothers and sister Mark Deraspe and wife Lynne of Mexico, David Deraspe and wife Angela of Hollis Center, and Susie Aylward and husband John of Rumford; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a special friend Michael Richard and his wife Ann Marie of Rumford;her friend, who was like a sister, Roxanne Gorham and husband Patrick of Peru; and her best four-legged friend, her dog Shadow.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and special aunts Dorilla Richard and Evelyn Arbor.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses, entire medical staff and support staff of Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice, the nurses and staff of The Hospice House in Auburn and Dr. Nicholette Erickson and her nurses and staff for the care, compassion and humanity shown to Linda and her family throughout her illness.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Athanasius-St. John Church on Sat. June 25 at 10 a.m. Interment will take place in the family lot at St. John’s Cemetery in Rumford.
