BETHEL — Telstar Varsity Rebels watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-0 loss to Hall-Dale on Friday, April 22. Hall-Dale took the lead on a groundout in the first inning.
The Rebels struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Hall-Dale, giving up 12 runs.
Hall-Dale fired up the offense in the first inning. Nathan grounded out, scoring one run.
One bright spot for the Rebels was a single by Brody Walker in the first inning.
Bellerose pitched Hall-Dale to victory. The pitcher went six innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out seven and walking one.
Walker took the loss for Telstar. The right-hander lasted five and a third innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs while striking out nine.
Colby Hastings, Matt Dillon, Andrew Leighton, Walker, and Cameron Palmer each collected one hit to lead the Rebels.
Hall-Dale saw the ball well, racking up eight hits in the game. Nathan and Lucas all managed multiple hits for Hall-Dale. Hall-Dale was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Hayward had the most chances in the field with eight.
