LEWISTON – Gary Lee Smith, 70, a resident of Livermore Falls and Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston following a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1952, in Farmington, the son of Leonard A. Smith and Gloria A. (Watson) Smith. He was a 1970 graduate of Jay High School. On March 17, 1973, in Jay, he married Julie Day. Through the years Gary worked at Ware and Butler in Livermore Falls and later worked as a city carrier for 34 years for the U.S. Postal service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, the New England sports teams, NASCAR, wintering in Florida, puttering in his garage, following his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and time spent with his family. He was an avid dog lover with many best friends through the years. Most recently Annie and Stitch.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julie Smith of Livermore Falls, daughters, Kim Gagnon and husband Reggie of Navarre, Fla., Tammy Smith of Jay, sons, Bill Millett and wife Dee of Scarborough, Jamie Smith of Los Angeles, and Jason Smith and wife Christy of Navarre, Fla., 14 grandchildren, Lacie Blanchard, Shane Gagnon, Cody Jacques, Brooklyn Fournier, Tyler Millett, Rachael Millett Provencher, Ben, Emily and Olivia Smith, Colby, Jayden, Dylan, Brendyn and Brody Smith, six great-grandchildren, Leilah Larrabee, Caden Blanchard, Ryker Blanchard, Charlotte Millett, Logan Smith, and arriving soon Mila Jacques, brothers, Brian Smith of Bingham, Jeffrey Smith and wife Marilyn of Pleasant Ridge, and Clayton Smith and wife Donna of Chelsea.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
