To the Editor:

I am writing to encourage people to reach out to local legislators to support the Maine equal rights amendment. It is time women are legally equal to men in Maine. The law as proposed is simple and clear.

It states: “equality of rights under the law can not be denied or abridged by the state or any political subdivision of the states based on the sex of the individual. The legislature has the power to enforce this section by appropriate legislation”.

Lisa Keim, please support the women of our community and vote yes as this bill returns requiring a 2/3 majority. It is long overdue.
