100 Years Ago: 1922

A well-filled house greeted the first performance anywhere of the “musical melange” written and co produced by Charles Allen and Prof E.S. Pitcher of Auburn, which they have chosen to call “The Twentieth Century Limited.” The performance was given Thursday evening in Webster School hall under the auspices of the Elm Street Universal Church Men‘s Club. Hearty enthusiasm and frequent applause greeted the work of every actor standing out as above the average in amateur acting.

50 Years Ago: 1972

Robert Quinton, Auburn industrialist, will be the speaker when the Auburn Exchange Club meets Tuesday at The  Roundhouse Motor Inn, Auburn for its weekly luncheon meeting. Quinton, vice president of Quinco Fabrics and president of the Pine Tree Textile Corp., will tell his audience “The Quinco Fabrics Story.”

25 Years Ago: 1997

Residents of Schooner Estates started the New Year off on the right foot with the celebration of their third annual Friendship Dinner. This  celebration has become a highly exalted exhibition of fine home-cooked dishes. The singing duo of Angie Guillette and Pat McLellan entertained while heated discussion ensued about long-kept culinary secrets. On the friendship dinner steering committee are chairwoman Ruth Buckley, Marie Westcott, Lenora Clifford, Esther Pierpont, Laura Sturtevant, Eleanor Ness and Tora Topping.
