FARMINGTON — The Maine Old Cemetery Association will hold its first 2011 program day on Saturday, May 21, at the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church. Lunch reservations deadline is May 11 and those wishing to order lunch (cost $7) should phone 778-2163 between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Thursday.
Featured speakers will be Nancy Porter of West Famington presenting “Some Farmington Cemeteries” and Cheryl Willis Patten, who will speak about zinc grave markers, sometimes called white bronze or metal markers. Everyone is welcome.
From 8:30 a.m. there will be exhibits and displays. Attendees are invited to display information about cemetery-related projects. In the afternoon there will be a tour of Riverside Cemetery in Farmington where there are many white bronze markers. Registration cost is $3 at the door.
