BETHEL — Oak Hill scored a layup with 20 seconds left to take the lead en route to a 28-26 Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball victory over host Telstar on Tuesday.
Gabby Chessie led the Raiders (7-7) with nine points and Paige Gonya added eight.
Telstar’s Morgan Zetts led all scorers with 16 points, while Nicole Cox pitched in with eight. Tuesday’s game marked the second of three games in three days for the Rebels (2-9).
RANGELEY 73, FOREST HILLS 50: Emily Eastlack and Winnie LaRochelle led the Lakers (6-1) to a big win over the Tigers (9-7) in Waterville at Gilman Street Gym.
Eastlack hit 10 field goals and led all scorers with 21 points for Rangeley, while teammate LaRochelle added 18 for the Lakers. Isa Whittier tallied 12 points and Abi Madrid helped with 11.
Forest Hills was paced by Peyton Chaisson with 17 points.
ST. DOMINIC 31, PINE TREE ACADEMY 20: The Saints (4-7) jumped ahead early and kept the Breakers (6-5) at bay for a win in Auburn.
Ava Apodaca paced St. Dom’s with eight points, while Jessie Zimmerman, Bella Perryman and Benie Yombe all scored six points apiece.
Paige Tyson led all scorers with 12 points for Pine Tree.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 30, FREEPORT 23: Caitlin Taylor scored eight points as the Patriots (10-5) used a 13-2 second quarter to pull away from the Falcons (4-9) at Gray.
Mason Baker-Schlendering scored 12 points for Freeport.
BANGOR 64, LEWISTON 36: The Rams ran away with a big Class AA North win over the Blue Devils in Lewiston.
Bangor’s Abbie Quinn paced all scorers with 15 points, while Emmie Streams scored 14. The Rams took an early 18-11 lead after the first quarter and stayed ahead the rest of the way for the road victory.
Lewiston’s Koral Morin scored a team-high nine points on three 3-pointers, while Natalie Beaudoin also added nine points.
PORTLAND 39, EDWARD LITTLE 27: Eliza Stein scored 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead the Bulldogs (2-13) past Edward Little (2-12) at Portland.
The Bulldogs took charge early, opening a 27-16 halftime lead.
Rachel Penny led the Red Eddies with 12 points and Layla Facchiano added 10.
BOYS BASKETBALL
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 41, WINTHROP 38: The Phoenix (13-0) rallied in the fourth quarter to edge the Ramblers (10-3) and stay undefeated with an MVC win in Jay.
Camden Phillips led all scorers with 18 points for Spruce Mountain, which trailed 32-27 entering the fourth. Jace Bessey added 10 points.
Matt Beck and Logan Baird each scored 10 points to lead Winthrop.
DIRIGO 63, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 57, OT: Charlie Houghton scored four of his game-high 25 points in overtime to help the Cougars (11-4) overcome the rival Falcons (6-7) in Rumford.
Trent Hutchinson made a basket of his own in the extra session, after the teams ended regulation tied 55-55, and finished with 10 points for Dirigo. Dakota Tompkins scored 12 points, including a pair of free throws in OT.
Zach New paced Mountain Valley with 18 points, Will Gallant scored eight of his 14 in the fourth quarter and Airick Richard added 12. Jake New scored the only two points for the Falcons in overtime and finished with eight points.
LEAVITT 58, MT. BLUE 37: The Hornets (9-5) pulled away in the fourth quarter for a victory over the Cougars (6-7) in Farmington.
Ian Redstone led Leavitt with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Sawyer Hathaway tacked on 10 points, as did Brett Coburn.
Evans Sterling scored 13 points to lead Mt. Blue, which was outscored 23-14 in the fourth quarter.
OXFORD HILLS 70, CHEVERUS 52: Teigan Pelletier scored 24 points as the visiting Vikings (12-3) handled the Stags (6-7) in Portland.
Eli Soehren added 14 points and Colby Dillingham had 12 for Oxford Hills.
Silvano Ismail led the Stags with 20 points.
ST. DOMINIC 67, PINE TREE ACADEMY 30: The Saints (9-3) rolled past the Breakers (5-8) in Auburn.
Gabe Carey scored 23 points on 11 field goals to lead all scorers. Taylor Varney added 14 points for the Saints.
Pine Tree Academy was paced by Silas Yeaton’s 14 points.
OAK HILL 62, BOOTHBAY 53: Jackson Arbour was the hot hand for the Raiders (7-7), draining five 3-pointers and scoring a team-high 17 points in a win over the Seahawks (5-11) in Wales.
Ramon Spearman added 14 points for Oak Hill and Caden Thompson scored 10.
Kayden Ames scored a game-high 21 points for Boothbay, Gryffin Kristan added nine and Matt Sullivan pitched in with eight.
LISBON 64, MT. ABRAM 52: The Greyhounds’ (12-2) first half was the difference in their victory over the Roadrunners (9-7) in Salem.
Lisbon outscored Mt. Abram 33-21 in the first half before the teams played even in the second half.
Mason Booker led Lisbon with 21 points, while Charlie Doyle added 16 in the win.
Mt. Abram was paced by Adam Luce’s 21 points.
MADISON 65, TELSTAR 23: Thomas Dean had a double-double (17 points and 16 rebounds) to lead the Bulldogs’ (8-6) in Madison.
Callan Franzose and Vernon Worthen each added 14 points for Madison.
Brayden Stevens led Telstar (1-13) with 10 points and Levi Cole-McDonnell added nine.
FOREST HILLS 80, RANGELEY 44: The Tigers (15-0) continued their undefeated regular season with a resounding win at the Gilman Street Gym in Waterville.
Cooper Daigle led Forest Hills with 16 points. Mason Desjardins and Hiram Loyston each added 14 points, while Braiden Welch tallied 11. Ten different Tigers scored.
Chase Carmichael paced all scorers with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, for Rangeley. Boden Washington poured in nine points.
FREEPORT 59, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 49: Colby Arsenault scored 21 points for the Falcons (9-5) in a win over Patriots (10-6) in Freeport.
Blaine Cockburn added 16 points and Keigan Shea finished with 11 for the Falcons.
Joshua Michaud had 13 points and Nate Hebert had 12 points for the Patriots, who got to within two in the final minutes before Freeport pulled way.
HIGH SCHOOL SKIING
SASSI MEMORIAL RACE RESCHEDULED: The Sassi Memorial has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 16.
The event was originally scheduled for this past Saturday but was called off because of a snowstorm.
The classical races will have wave starts of five skiers at a time every 30 seconds. The girls will start at 1:30 p.m., followed by the boys at approximately 2:30 p.m.
