LEWISTON — Lydia Pepin Beaulieu reached her 100th birthday on May 3. She was honored at a celebration on May 1 at Russell Park Manor, Russell Street.

Lydia was one of 13 children of Xavier and Lumina Roy. As an adult she worked in the shoe shops of Lewiston and, after marrying Joseph Pepin, she continued to work days in the shoe shops and in the evenings they operated Joe’s Flavor Land, a mobile ice cream business, while raising two children, Richard and Andrew.

Lydia’s second husband was George Beaulieu. Of her nine children and stepchildren, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, present at the party were Richard Pepin and wife Solange of Lewiston, Jennete Lapointe of Massachusetts, Arline Smith of New Hampshire, Patti Walsh of New Hampshire and Ed and Holly Lapointe of Wilton.

Sen. Olympia Snowe sent Lydia a card. Sen. Margaret Craven presented a card at the party. Atty. Paul Murphy was among the 50-plus people in attendance.
