LEWISTON — Registration is now open for the final Families in Action workshop for the school year. The workshop will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at Lewiston Middle School. The workshop is held in six sessions over six consecutive Wednesdays. Free food is served beginning at 5:30. Sessions run until about 8:30 p.m.

Families in Action is a parent-teen workshop where parents and middle school-age teens come together to learn valuable communication skills. These skills help each other get along better while navigating the teen years. Topics covered include: courage and self esteem, responsibility and discipline, cooperation and communication, teen behavior, problem solving, and prevention strategies. The workshop is fun, safe, and interactive. There are group discussions, video presentations, activities, and games. Families in Action is facilitated by two experienced family education and counseling specialists from Community Concepts.

The workshop is free to register and attend. The workshop is open to families in Lewiston and Auburn with students in 6th through 9th grade. To register or get more information, contact Families in Action Coordinator Scott Gagnon at 795-2120. Or visit www.healthyandroscoggin.org. Families in Action is presented by the Lewiston-Auburn Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative and Healthy Androscoggin.
