DEAR SUN SPOTS: I need someone to do snow removal this winter. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks for the help, Sun Spots! — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: Every year at this time, I like to update the Rolodex with recommended snow removal service information. So far, I have Fresh Start Landscape (577-4130) and Hamann Bros. Lawn & Landscaping (795-0567). Let’s add more and make a good big list together! Please write in!
DEAR SUN SPOTS: In your Rolodex, is there someone who irons clothes as a side business? SeniorsPlus does not have any resources for these services and dry cleaners would be expensive. Thank you for the great service you do for the community. It’s a must-read every day. — No name, Lewiston
ANSWER: I spoke with Auburn Cleaning Center (783-1280) and they may be able to help you. It would depend on the number of clothing items you have and what they are.
Meanwhile, if anyone in the area could help this reader out with their ironing skills, please write!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Main Street funeral question originating on Sept. 5 and last mentioned on Oct. 14 is finally resolved, I hope. Everyone was correct! There were two quite separate funeral homes on Main Street near each other. Using a larger array of available city directories, I pieced this basic timeline of each funeral home together.
At 391 Main St., between Holland and Elm streets, there was a funeral home.
In 1932, it was the Teague & Harlow Funeral Home. Then sometime in 1934 or 1935 it became the Teague & Stevens Funeral Home.
Between 1954 and 1958, it became the Teague & Jenkins Funeral Home then between 1978 and 1979 it became the Teague & Finley Funeral Home.
That funeral home stopped operating at 391 Main St. sometime between 1990 and 1996.
At 377 Main St. at the corner with Holland Street, there was another funeral home. As early as 1926, Daniel J. Conley ran a funeral home at this address.
Sometime between 1977 and 1978, the Conley Funeral Home closed and by 1978 their building at 377 Main St. became home to the Law Offices of Orestis & Garcia. — David, Lewiston
ANSWER: This has a bit more information than Doug’s recollections that were published on Oct. 14. Thank you for all this information and for the time put into collecting it. David and Doug did a wonderful job with this and the reader who first asked the question about Lewiston funeral homes should feel very well served. These two readers went above and beyond to help another reader and that is what Sun Spots is all about!
