There is much consternation in the pro-choice community — in much of the mainstream media and reaching all the way to the White House — concerning the recent Texas law which bans an abortion when a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which usually occurs about six weeks into the pregnancy.
Isn’t a beating heartbeat a sign of life? Of course it is, yet pro-choice advocates are up in arms about this ruling.
What I personally can’t get past is the simple fact that when a heartbeat is detected it is proof positive — beyond dispute — that what is inside the woman is alive and growing.
Pro-choice advocates, however, continue to argue that this shouldn’t be a factor in deciding whether or not an abortion can be performed.
How sad.
