LIVERMORE FALLS — A Maine State Trooper has been injured in a crash involving a tractor trailer truck on Route 133, just south of Livermore Falls.

A Sun Journal reporter on the scene said another trooper on the scene said the injured officer had stopped along the side of the road to help a motorist who  had become stuck on a slippery hill.

The tractor trailer approaching from behind lost control and hit the trooper who was sitting in his cruiser at the time. The extent of the troopers’ injuries were unknown but rescue workers were in the process of extricating him from his vehicle.

The reporter on the scene said it appeared the injured trooper was conscious and speaking with rescue workers.

More details on this accident will be posted here as they become available.

Rescue workers and police around Franklin, Oxford and Androscoggin counties were responding to mutliple highway mishaps as a wet snow from a fast moving storm seemed to be taking motorists by surprise.
