100 Years Ago: 1923

Members of Lewiston Reading Circle enjoyed a delightful day Tuesday as guests of Mrs. George W. Horne at the Horne cottage at Norway Lake. The day was rainy so there was not much chance for going out-of-doors, but the Hornes have a large boathouse which contains as one of its pleasant features, a large fireplace, so the members gathered there where they had just the “right kind” of restful entertainment for a rainy day-a cheerful fire, cheerful conversation, a gracious hostess and a most appetizing dinner. The trip was made by automobile.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Thomas E. Delahanty II, county attorney for Androscoggin County, will be featured speaker this week at the luncheon meeting of the Auburn Exchange Club. His topic is entitled “Your County Attorney.” The Auburn Exchange Club meets Tuesday noons at the Roundhouse Motor Inn in Auburn.

25 Years Ago: 1998

“Art in Ogunquit, Ogunquit in Art: 1898-1998,” is ongoing. “Winslow Homer: Facing Nature,” will be featured through Sept. 27, “Impressionist and Modernist Artists on the French Riviera,” will be featured through Oct. 18, “Modern Color,” watercolors by Carl Gordon Cutler, will be featured through Oct. 4, and “The Ernst Haas Memorial Collection,” will be featured through Oct. 11, all at Portland Museum of Art.
